Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) for Estimation of Hydraulic Parameters in the Porous Aquifer

نویسندگان

چکیده

Similarities in both water and electric current flows allow the relation of hydraulic geoelectric parameters porous aquifers. Based on this assumption importance for groundwater analyses, study aimed to estimate conductivity (K) transmissivity (T) with vertical electrical sounding (VES) aquifer at experimental farm University Brasilia, Brazil. VES is a geophysical technique that provides resistivity (ρ, Ω m) thickness (h) subsurface layers. The ρ h data, associated lithology, table level (WTL), (ρw, m), allowed calculation complementary (formation factor, F, Dar Zarrouk parameters) K T, determined via slug test. data elaboration models, mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) below 6% compared field identification each station. Significant exponential regression models (R2 > 0.5 p-value < 0.05) showed possibility using parameters. This verification applicability consolidated appropriate empirical relationships hydrogeological characterization Brazilian tropical results work, besides rapid sampling low cost performing (VES), may justify use preliminary characterization, especially regions absent or insufficient monitoring wells.

Estimation of Hydrodynamic Coefficients of Zouzan Plain Aquifer Using of Electrical Sounding Data

Knowledge of hydrodynamic coefficients is necessary for the determination of natural water flow through an aquifer and management of ground water resource. In this study, in order to determination of hydrodynamic coefficients of Zouzan aquifer results of 112 electrical sounding have been used. Quantitative interpretation was done by using IPI2WIN. Values of formation factor and porosity were de...

Estimation of aquifer characteristics using vertical electrical soundings (VES) data from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Agbani, Nigeria

Vertical electrical soundings (VES) were carried out in order to determine the groundwater potential of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Agbani, Nigeria. The instrument used was the ABEM Terrameter SAS 300B, employing the Schlumberger electrode configuration. Interpretation of the VES data by partial curve matching technique aided by computer modeling showed that the sample...

Straightforward inversion of vertical electrical sounding data

A straightforward inversion scheme (SIS) has been developed to interpret vertical electrical sounding data. This scheme does not require quasi-linearization of the inverse resistivity problem and thereby dispenses with the iterative process and the necessity of guessing the number of layers and their resistivities and thicknesses. The entire solution domain is divided into uniform thickness lay...

Geoelectrical resistivity data sets for subsurface characterisation and aquifer delineation in Iyesi, southwestern Nigeria

This article consists of geoelectrical resistivity data sets for thirty (30) vertical electrical sounding (VES) and four (4) traverses of 2D electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) collected within Iyesi, Ota, southwestern Nigeria for about five (5) weeks between December, 2016 and January, 2017 using an ABEM Terrameter (SAS1000/4000). The observed apparent resistivity data sets for the VES were p...
